How the simulation works

The engine grades your five on four categories — scoring, rebounding, playmaking and defense — each measured against "perfect team" benchmarks built from the greatest seasons in NBA history. Your team overall converts into a win total across the 82-game schedule, revealed game by game against real franchises.

No luck, pure skill

Unlike simulators that roll dice, this one is fully deterministic: the same starting five always finishes with the same record. That makes records comparable — if your friend went 74-8 on the same spins and you went 71-11, they out-drafted you, period.

What the grades mean

41 wins is an average season. 57+ makes you a contender. 74+ eclipses the greatest real season ever played (the 2016 Warriors' 73-9). And 82-0 — the perfect season — is achieved by fewer than 1 in 250 expertly drafted teams. That's the chase.

Is the season simulator random?

No. The result is computed from your lineup — identical lineups always produce identical records.

Can a team really go 82-0?

In the simulator, yes — with a nearly flawless, balanced five of all-time greats. In real life no team ever has; 73-9 is the record.

Does it use real player stats?

Yes — real per-era averages (points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks) for 10,000+ NBA players from the 1950s to the 2020s.
